Expert Witness on Valuation
We act as an expert witness in various types of legal dispute which require the opinion of an experienced valuation specialist. As the technical background and issues that arise in legal disputes becomes more complex we have found that there is an increasing requirement for good quality expert witnesses.
Some examples of those instances where we often act as an independent expert witness include:
-
Determining the quantum of loss arising out of a claim for breach of contract or breach of warranty
-
Disputes involving shareholders of private companies
-
Minority oppression cases under Section 994 of the Companies Act 2006 (Known previous to 1 October 2007 as Section 459 of the Companies Act 1985 and Section 122 of the Insolvency Act 1986)
-
Divorce proceedings which involve complex share, business or intellectual property valuation
-
Professional negligence claims
In such cases we are either engaged on one side of the dispute, jointly by both parties or as a mediator. Disputes involving valuation often hinge on the evidence provided by an expert witness.
